Implant-retained and removable

A denture that connects for stability—and comes out for cleaning.

Snap-in dentures use attachments on dental implants to improve retention while keeping the appliance removable. They can reduce movement compared with a conventional denture, but still require daily removal, cleaning and ongoing maintenance.

Conventional denture

Supported by oral tissues.

Retention depends on anatomy, fit, saliva and muscle control. Movement can be more noticeable, particularly in the lower arch.

Snap-in denture

Retained by implant attachments.

The denture connects to planned attachments for added resistance to lifting and sliding, then is removed by the patient.

How the system works

Three components share the job.

01

Implants

Placed in the jaw to provide planned anchor points after healing.

02

Attachments

Connect implant components with replaceable retention elements in the denture.

03

Denture

A removable appliance shaped for the bite, smile and supporting tissues.

Candidacy and planning

Stability begins below the denture.

Bone quantity, gum health, medical history, smoking, existing dentures, bite and hand dexterity all affect whether implant-retained removable treatment is appropriate.

Clinical and medical assessment
Three-dimensional implant imaging
Surgical and healing plan
Restorative and maintenance design
Treatment phases

Implants heal before the denture connects.

The number of implants, timing and whether an existing denture can be adapted vary by plan.

Plan the positions

Imaging and restorative goals guide implant location and attachment design.

Place and heal

Implants are placed and given time to integrate according to the clinical plan.

Create or adapt the denture

Records establish bite, tooth position and the relationship to healed implants.

Connect and refine

Retention is adjusted, pressure areas are checked and removal technique is taught.

Everyday care

A simple routine helps protect your fit and comfort.

Snap-in dentures need daily care both in and out of the mouth. We will demonstrate the cleaning tools and removal technique suited to your appliance, implants and gums, and explain whether it should be left out while you sleep.

01

Remove with care

Take the denture out as demonstrated, without forcing or twisting the attachment areas.

02

Clean every surface

Clean the denture, attachment housings, implants and surrounding gums each day with the recommended tools.

03

Notice changes early

Food trapping, movement, a weaker snap or difficulty removing the denture are reasons to contact our team.

Ongoing maintenance

The attachments will need attention over time.

Retention inserts naturally wear with use and may occasionally need to be replaced. Regular examinations allow us to check the denture, attachments, implants, gums and bite before a small concern becomes a larger one.

Stable, but still removable.

A snap-in denture is removed by the patient and continues to receive some support from the oral tissues. A fixed full-arch restoration has a different design, cleaning routine and treatment pathway.

Snap-in denture FAQs

Know what “snap-in” really means.

Are snap-in dentures removable?+

Yes. The patient removes them for cleaning even though implant attachments provide added retention during use.

How many implants are needed?+

The number depends on the arch, bone, anatomy, denture design and treatment goals. Imaging and restorative planning are required.

Can my current denture be converted?+

Sometimes, if its fit, bite, strength and tooth position are suitable. Other cases need a new denture.

Do the snaps wear out?+

Retention elements can wear and are designed to be maintained or replaced. The frequency varies with use and alignment.

Can I eat anything?+

Stability can improve, but chewing capacity still depends on the denture, support, bite and adaptation. Begin according to the guidance provided.
