What counts as a good result at reassessment?+
Less bleeding, shallower measurements and firmer tissue are the kinds of changes the visit looks for. What that means for you depends on your starting findings, so have them explained.
Could my gums look worse even though they’re healthier?+
They can look different. When swelling resolves, recession or spaces can become more obvious. Your dentist can help you interpret any change you’ve noticed in the mirror.
Does a deep reading mean the first treatment failed?+
Not by itself. Some sites respond less than others or stay hard to maintain, and reassessment exists to identify them so that next steps can be considered.
Do I need freezing at this appointment?+
Ask about this ahead of the visit, especially if your gums are still tender. Any plan for local anaesthetic would rest on what’s being done that day and on your history.
Can I go straight to maintenance after this visit?+
That’s the usual direction for areas that have stabilized. If some sites haven’t, your dentist may talk about them first, and recall timing is set for you individually.
How do Aurora residents request a gum evaluation?+
Use the form here or ring (204) 338-3003 to ask for a visit at our McPhillips Street clinic in Winnipeg. We’ll reply so the time can be confirmed.
