Restorative & Prosthodontics for Waverley West Residents

Custom dental work usually passes through checkpoints before it’s permanently in place. Knowing where those moments fall makes it far easier to speak up while changes are still possible.

Your voice in the process

Try-ins exist so that you can react.

Some patients worry about being too fussy, then stay quiet about a tooth that looks too long or a bite that seems off. Please don’t. Those impressions are useful information during treatment. Whether you’re a Waverley West resident or from elsewhere in Winnipeg, it helps to know that fit, shade and function are usually looked at in stages rather than settled in a single moment.

With a denture, tooth position, smile, speech and bite are evaluated at a try-in before the final processing. A crown’s fit, contacts, bite and appearance are checked and adjusted before cementing. Larger plans may use provisional restorations to test comfort or looks over a longer stretch. All of this happens at our McPhillips Street clinic.

Shade beside your own teeth

Colour can read differently next to your own teeth. Ask to see it with a mirror, and say if something looks wrong to you.

Your bite is a witness

You’re the one who knows how your teeth used to meet, so mention any contact that lands sooner or harder than expected.

Provisional means testing

A temporary phase may let bite, comfort or appearance be assessed in daily life before definitive work is made.

How you can take part

Three moments to make your opinion known.

The right time to raise a concern is the moment you notice it, even if it seems small.

Request your visit
  1. 01

    Before records are taken

Share what you like and dislike about your teeth now, so those preferences can inform the shade and shape from the beginning.

  2. 02

    At any try-in

Take your time with the mirror. Read something aloud if a denture is involved, and bite down gently to see how it feels.

  3. 03

    Before final attachment

Say so if anything still seems off. It’s much simpler to make a change while the piece can still come back out.

A little clarity before your visit

Your questions, answered.

Helpful details about restorative & prosthodontics in Waverley West.

Ask our team
What if I don’t like how a try-in looks?

Say so right then. That’s the purpose of the stage. Tooth position and appearance can be reconsidered before the denture is processed, and it’s far easier now than later.

Can speech be checked before a denture is finished?

Yes. Speech is one of the things evaluated at a try-in, along with tooth position, smile and bite. Mention any sound that seems difficult while changes remain simple.

Will I get a say in my crown’s colour?

Shade information is recorded during preparation so that the crown can be made to suit. Say beforehand if you plan to whiten, since that may change what you’d want matched.

What if the bite feels high after I get home?

Contact the clinic. A tooth that hits too heavily should be checked and adjusted, not left in the hope that you’ll adapt to it.

Is a temporary crown what the final one will look like?

No. Its job is protecting the prepared tooth and holding the space while the custom crown is produced. Don’t judge the finished shape or colour by it.

What does a provisional restoration let me test?

It can help evaluate your bite, comfort or appearance when these are still in question. Larger plans sometimes use one before committing to definitive restorations.

What should Waverley West residents mention when they first get in touch?

A note about what you’d like changed gives the visit a starting point, whether you send it online or raise it by phone at (204) 338-3003. Appointments are held at our McPhillips Street clinic.
