Restorative & Prosthodontics for Exchange District Residents

Perhaps you moved here with crowns, a bridge or an implant placed in another city or country. Starting fresh with a new dental office raises practical questions about what you have and how it’s holding up.

Let's find a time

New here, with work already done

Your existing restorations can still be assessed.

Moving often means leaving behind the person who treated your teeth, along with the charts. Exchange District is an area in Winnipeg, and if you have settled here carrying restorations made elsewhere, you may not know exactly what they are or when they might need attention.

Much can be learned from an exam and appropriate X-rays, even without paperwork: the margins of a crown, the health of the anchor teeth under a bridge, the gum and bone around an implant. Should anything need attention at our McPhillips Street clinic, knowing where the work was done and what parts were used can sometimes help.

Gather what you can

Old X-rays, treatment notes, implant cards and invoices can all be useful, particularly if you can still request them.

Paperwork is optional

Missing records won’t prevent an examination. It simply means more of the picture comes from looking directly.

Don’t wait for a problem

An early review gives your new dental office a baseline, so later changes are easier to spot and discuss.

Settling in with new care

Making a first review useful.

It doesn’t matter if your records are in another language or are incomplete. Bring them along anyway, and explain what you remember.

Request your visit
  1. 01

    Take stock beforehand

Make a list of the teeth you know have been treated, roughly when, and where the work happened, even if the details are hazy.

  2. 02

    Ask for a baseline

Your restorations, gums and bite are examined and imaged as appropriate, so there’s a current record of how they are doing.

  3. 03

    Sort out what comes next

Ask which items need attention, which can be monitored, and how your existing appliances or implants should be maintained.

A little clarity before your visit

Your questions, answered.

Helpful details about restorative & prosthodontics in Exchange District.

Ask our team
I have no records from my last dentist. Is that a problem?

It shouldn’t stop you from being seen. An exam and images will show a good deal, and you can always try requesting records from your former office afterward.

Can my implant be serviced if it was placed in another country?

Ask about it directly, and bring any implant card or details you have. Parts vary, so knowing what was placed can help in planning any future work on it.

My crown looks different from the others. Should I be concerned?

Looks alone don’t show whether it is failing. The edges, the tooth beneath, your gums and your bite tell more, and these can all be examined at a visit.

What would you look for with an old bridge from elsewhere?

Attention goes to the supporting teeth, their margins and gums, plus how you clean beneath it. Report any movement, trapped food, bleeding or a persistent bad taste.

Should I keep wearing a partial denture made in another place?

Unless it is causing harm, bring it in with you so that the fit, your tissues and the teeth supporting it can be assessed. Mention any sore spots or rocking.

Is it worth coming in if everything feels fine?

Often, yes. Trouble around dental work doesn’t always produce symptoms early on. A first exam also gives you a dated reference point for future comparisons.

How would an Exchange District resident arrange a first review?

Phone (204) 338-3003 or use the form, and note that you have existing work from elsewhere. You would attend our clinic on McPhillips Street in Winnipeg.
