How does a St. Vital parent request an assessment for their child?+
Send the form on this page or phone (204) 338-3003, and include anything you’d like explained. Someone from the clinic will be in touch to arrange it.
My older child had sealants. Why weren’t they suggested for my younger one?+
A sealant only makes sense on a molar that has come in and has grooves deep enough to warrant it, in a child whose decay risk supports it. Your younger child may not have those teeth yet, or may carry a different level of risk.
Why is fluoride recommended for my child but not my friend’s?+
Two children of different ages, or with different odds of getting cavities, can reasonably get different fluoride advice for the clinic and for home. Ask, and you’ll hear the specific reason for yours.
Can my child’s risk level change?+
Yes. Habits, new teeth, diet and treatment history all shift over time, and the recommendations are revisited as they do.
Why is our return interval different from what I expected?+
Expectations often come from a general rule of thumb, while the gap set for your child is drawn from their growth, decay record, brushing and past care. If it surprises you, ask what drove it.
Can I ask why something was recommended?+
Of course. You’re entitled to understand the reasoning, and the team explains it before care is provided.
Does a personal plan change what happens if a tooth gets chipped?+
No; a chipped or broken tooth calls for a phone call to the clinic with a description, not the form. Where a child has also hit their face hard, fainted, won’t stop bleeding or is labouring to breathe, emergency medical services come first.
