Invisalign for Stonewall Residents

Perhaps you’ve moved, a provider has become hard to reach, or you began with a mail-order kit. If you’re in Stonewall and part-way through trays, here’s how to approach what comes next.

Partway through and unsure

Picking Up the Thread on Unfinished Aligner Treatment

Being in the middle of a tray series with nobody to check on it can feel unsettling. You may not know which tray you should be on, whether the current one still fits as intended, or if anybody else can take a look. Whether care could be continued is something only a clinic can answer after seeing you.

We can’t tell you here what’s possible in your case. What we can say is where to ask: Stonewall is outside the City of Winnipeg, so residents would come in to our clinic on McPhillips Street for an examination and a straightforward discussion of what they’ve already been through.

Bring every tray

Current, used and unworn aligners can all help show how far you’ve come with your series.

Details help

A provider’s name, your start date and any paperwork give the dentist more to work with.

Fresh eyes first

Your teeth, gums and bite would be examined now, no matter what an earlier plan has said.

Taking inventory

Sorting out where things stand.

Two questions matter at this point. One is what has happened in your mouth so far, and the other is what paperwork or digital records may exist from your earlier care.

What your teeth show

Actual movement can differ from what a series was supposed to do. Comparing the teeth as they are now to what was planned means examining them in person.

  • Whether your present tray seats properly.
  • Any attachments still bonded to your teeth.
  • How your bite functions in its current position.
  • The health of your gums and root support.

What records may exist

The earlier plan may help explain what was intended. It’s fair to ask your previous provider for whatever they hold, though what you can obtain will vary.

  • Any scans or treatment-plan images you were shown.
  • X-rays and photographs from before you started.
  • Tray numbers, and dates when you changed them.
  • Instructions you were given for wear and retainers.

Don’t jump ahead through leftover trays to get it finished. If your aligner has stopped fitting, call the clinic and describe what you’re seeing.

Starting over, or carrying on

How the usual stages could look from here.

An interrupted case can’t simply slot in where it left off. These four stages would still apply, viewed with your earlier treatment in mind.

Request your visit
  1. 01

    Re-examining everything

Teeth, gums, bite and jaw relationships are assessed afresh, with photographs and appropriate X-rays. Your earlier trays and paperwork add context here.

  2. 02

    Deciding on a direction

If treatment makes sense, it needs a plan for where each tooth goes from today’s position. Your old preview may no longer be relevant.

  3. 03

    Receiving instructions

Should new aligners be appropriate, their fit is confirmed, attachments are handled as planned, and you’ll go over insertion, removal and care.

  4. 04

    Tracking from a new baseline

Progress is checked against the current sequence. Bring up any differences you notice, rather than assuming they’re normal after a change of provider.

Empty that drawer first

A box of evidence for your trip in.

Since you’re travelling into Winnipeg, you’ll want everything together in a single visit if you can. Ask what’s worth bringing when the clinic contacts you.

Write to your earlier provider, if possible, sooner rather than later. Records can take time to obtain, and they may be harder to find as time passes.

To collect beforehand

  • All trays you still have, kept in numbered order.
  • Emails, photos and instructions from your earlier provider.
  • A short timeline of when treatment began and paused.
  • Prescriptions you’re on, and whatever has changed medically since you began.

If this feels like a failure

Plans change, and yours isn’t unusual.

People step away from treatment for all kinds of ordinary reasons, including a move, money, or simple frustration. You don’t need to defend any of those choices to anyone.

Candour helps most

Tell it as it happened, including gaps in wear. It gives the dentist a truer picture to work from.

If anything hurts

Describe any pain or any tooth that seems different, and phone the clinic rather than pressing on.

Costs are a fair question

Ask openly about what a new assessment or plan would involve. Nothing here can answer that in advance.

However this ends

A finish still needs retention behind it.

Whether you complete treatment, restart it or decide to stop, your teeth keep responding to what you do next. Ask how to protect the position they’re in now.

01

If you stop for now

Find out from the dentist what’s sensible for your teeth when you decide not to continue with trays.

02

More trays, perhaps

New records might support ordering refinement aligners, depending on what the assessment shows and the plan that follows.

03

Keeping the position

Retainers worn as prescribed are what hold teeth afterward, since shifting can continue over your lifetime.

Bring any retainer you were given earlier, even if it isn’t fitting now. It’s useful information about where things have gone.

A little clarity before your visit

Your questions, answered.

Helpful details about invisalign in Stonewall.

Ask our team
Can you take over treatment another office began?

That can’t be answered without looking at your teeth and records. Call ahead and explain your situation, and ask what’s realistic at an assessment.

I used a mail-order kit. Can I still come in?

Yes, you can ask for an assessment. Bring the trays and any instructions you received, and say plainly how you’ve been using them.

Should I keep wearing my current tray until I’m seen?

Phone the clinic and describe how it’s fitting, because the right answer depends on your circumstances. Please don’t move forward to the next tray on your own.

Can my old aligners still be used?

Trays are made for a specific tooth position in a specific sequence. Bring them with you so the dentist can judge whether they’re still relevant.

What if I can’t get records from my earlier provider?

Tell the clinic what you do have. A new examination and fresh records can be taken as appropriate, so missing paperwork isn’t the end of the discussion.

Who do Stonewall residents call about unfinished treatment?

Reach the clinic at (204) 338-3003 or use the form, and describe where you are in your series. Staff will contact you to arrange a time.
