Invisalign for Garden Grove Residents

Reading about aligners is one thing, and having them in your mouth for the first time is another. If you’re from Garden Grove and about to begin, this is what those early days involve.

Delivery day and after

Getting Through the Awkward Beginning

The first appointment with your actual trays covers a lot at once: fit, any attachments in your plan, and a hands-on lesson in getting them in and out. Then you head home, and the habits that seemed simple at the clinic need to survive breakfast, your commute and your first evening.

Feeling clumsy at this stage is normal, and questions tend to come up only after you’ve left. Care for Garden Grove residents takes place at our clinic on McPhillips Street in Winnipeg, which is where fittings happen and who to phone when something doesn’t seem right.

Hands-on instruction

You’ll practise inserting and removing your aligners during the appointment, before going home with them.

Small first routines

Keep the case handy and keep it simple: out for meals, clean your teeth, then trays back in.

Questions come later

If something occurs to you once you’re home, phoning the clinic is better than searching online.

Your early toolkit

What you’ll be managing from the start.

At first it can feel like a lot to remember. It boils down to knowing what’s newly attached to your teeth, and which handful of habits matter most.

What’s new in your mouth

Depending on your plan, aligners might not be the only change you notice. Ask what’s been placed on your teeth, and why, while you’re still in the chair.

  • Trays that sit over your teeth and feel unfamiliar.
  • Small tooth-coloured attachments if your plan needs them.
  • Elastic bands in selected bite plans, as prescribed.
  • Tray edges your tongue will notice for a while.

What to practise first

Early on, the aim is simply to repeat a few actions until they stop taking any thought. These are the ones that come up most often during a day.

  • Lift trays out before eating or drinking anything but water.
  • Set them straight into the case, every time.
  • Brush and clean between teeth before they go back.
  • Follow your prescribed schedule, including overnight wear.

Your wear schedule is set for you personally. If you left your delivery visit unsure of any instruction, it’s completely reasonable to call and ask again.

How you got here

The road to delivery, and what follows.

Delivery day is the third of four stages in treatment. Here’s where it sits, so you can see what has already been done and what’s ahead.

Request your visit
  1. 01

    Before: the examination

Your teeth, gums, bite and jaw relationships have been examined, and photographs and suitable X-rays looked at, to decide that aligners can do what’s needed.

  2. 02

    Before: the design

Each tooth’s intended path has been mapped out, including how space would be created and which of the movements would need more control.

  3. 03

    Today: your delivery visit

Your dentist confirms the trays fit, bonds on any planned attachments, then teaches you how to insert them, take them out and look after them.

  4. 04

    Ahead: progress checks

You come back so that real movement can be compared to the sequence. If a tray isn’t fitting as intended, that’s dealt with during this stage.

Before the big day

Pack for your first day with trays.

A little preparation at home makes the first few days noticeably smoother. It’s mostly a matter of having the right things where you’re likely to need them.

Keep your questions on your phone as they come up, so that you have them to hand at the appointment and don’t need to rely on memory.

Have these ready

  • A toothbrush and floss for your bag or desk.
  • A regular place at home for your case at night.
  • A list of questions about wear, cleaning and care.
  • An updated medication list and any health changes.

Clumsy is allowed

Nobody’s a natural on their first day.

Fumbling with trays in front of a mirror is part of learning. Even if you feel self-conscious at first, tell the clinic if something isn’t getting easier.

A tongue that won’t quit

It’s common to keep noticing the new edges at first. Mention it if a spot seems to be rubbing.

Trays that won’t budge

When a tray seems stuck, ask to be shown the removal technique again, or phone the clinic for advice.

Talking with them in

New trays can feel odd when you’re speaking. Raise any concern about this with the clinic if it continues.

Far down the line

Early habits pay off much later.

It may seem far away now, but the care routine you’re building also carries over into the retainer stage, once your teeth have reached their planned positions.

01

Stage after stage

Keep going with each tray as you’ve been directed. If movements remain incomplete at the end, new records may support refinement aligners.

02

Retainers afterward

Your eventual retainer will hold teeth as surrounding tissues adapt, and it’ll need to be worn the way it’s prescribed.

03

Lifelong awareness

Since teeth can continue to shift as the years go by, the habit of watching fit will stay useful.

Don’t worry about all of this today. For now, just work on the routine and call if a tray seems wrong.

Your questions, answered.

Helpful details about invisalign in Garden Grove.

Ask our team
What actually happens when I pick up my aligners?

Fit gets confirmed, any planned attachments are placed, and you’re taught how to insert, remove and care for your trays before you head home.

Why do my new trays feel so strange?

They sit snugly over your teeth and have edges your mouth isn’t used to yet. If something seems sharp or doesn’t fit, contact the clinic about it.

Which foods should I avoid while I’m getting used to trays?

The trays themselves come out for meals and snacks, so the main thing to remember is to remove them first. Clean your teeth before they go back in.

Can I sleep in them on my very first night?

Aligners are generally worn through the day and night. Follow the exact schedule you were given, and check with the clinic if you’re unsure.

How soon should I come back after getting my trays?

Your progress visits are arranged as part of your treatment. Ask at the delivery appointment when you’re next due, so you know what’s coming.

What if I forget everything I was shown?

Call and ask, because it’s a lot to take in at one sitting. You can also request another demonstration when you’re next at the clinic.

How can Garden Grove residents reach the clinic with a first-week question?

Phone (204) 338-3003 and explain what’s come up. Your visits are at Unit 5, 2358 McPhillips Street, Winnipeg, MB R2V 4J6.
