How soon can I eat once I’ve had a filling?+
Follow what you are told for your own restoration. If you were frozen, chewing should wait until normal sensation is back, because an accidental bite to your lip, cheek or tongue is easy when you can’t feel it.
My filled tooth reacts to cold. Should I be worried?+
A brief reaction to temperature can occur after treatment and should gradually settle. Get in touch if it is strong, becoming worse, or still present past the timeframe we discussed.
Why does my bite feel strange after the numbness wears off?+
A filling can sit slightly high, and that may be hard to judge while you are still frozen. If the tooth meets first or feels uneven, call us so we can look at whether an adjustment is needed.
Do I floss a filled tooth any differently?+
Generally it is cleaned like the rest of your teeth, with brushing and between-tooth care. Your restoration’s contours are designed to allow this. If floss catches or shreds at the spot, let us know.
Will my filling need to be checked later?+
Your recommended examinations give your dentist a chance to monitor the restoration and the tooth around it. There is no universal lifespan, so that ongoing review is worthwhile.
Who should Seven Oaks residents call about a problem afterward?+
Phone Winnipeg North Dental at (204) 338-3003 and describe what you’re noticing. Treatment and any review happen at our McPhillips Street clinic, and we can talk through the next step with you.
